French fried potato pancakes
Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, potato pancakes are irresistible.
Ingredients
- 4 medium potatoes
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
Preparation
- Wash the potatoes and cook them for 15 minutes.
- Let the potatoes cool and remove the skins.
- In a large bowl mash the potatoes and mix with the chopped onion, egg, flour, salt and pepper.
- Take portions of the mixture and form pancakes of the desired size.
- In a large skillet heat enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom over medium-high heat.
- When the oil is hot, carefully place the potato pancakes in the pan without crowding them.
- Cook the potato pancakes for about 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Place the pancakes on a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess fat.
- You can serve the potato pancakes with tomato sauce, sour cream, guacamole or your favorite salsa.
